What are the benefits of enrolling with a GP?

022.pngWe are a Procare practice which means we can offer extra services to our enrolled patients. Being a Procare practice means that we must provide high quality services and we are able to provide some services for free.

ProCare practices receive additional funding to help reduce barriers and improve the health outcomes for people with the greatest need. This funding is known as SIA funding or Services to Improve Access.

With this additional funding ProCare practice offers additional services to improve health and access to regular GP services. ProCare also provides some services in your community in Marae or Church.

Who is this funding for?
This additional funding is provided by the Ministry of Health to Maori and Pacific people and those living in Ministry of Health designated areas only.
How much is the funding?
The amount of money that the government gives SIA funded patients is very complex and is based on Age, Gender, Nationality and where people live. ProCare manages this funding on behalf of the Ministry of Health, your doctor and the local community.

What are ProCares SIA Programmes?
· Help with giving up smoking.
· Help to feel better in your mind.
· Protection against Illness.
· Home visits.
· Help with Sexual health.

You should talk to your Doctor, Social worker, Marae or Church leader about the things that can help you and your family.

Patients of ProCare practices also benefit from being able to call registered nurses for free medical advice weekends, after-hours and public holidays. If you or a family member are unwell when your practice is closed, simply call your doctor's (GP's) usual phone number and speak to a registered nurse for medical advice. All calls are confidential and the nurses will notify your GP of your call in case a follow-up is required.

Most of the time our nurses can help you at home. However, if the nurse advises you to go to an A & M clinic or hospital emergency department, they can help you locate your closest open clinic.
